By the time you reach this optional clash in Khari Crossing, it's pretty clear Path of Exile 2 loves punishing players who stand still. The showdown with Akthi and Anundr proves it. You can walk past it, sure, but that's a bad trade when a Book of Specialisation is on the line, especially if you're already thinking about gearing, respeccing, or saving up PoE 2 Currency for the harder stretch ahead. Those extra passive points matter more than people think, and this fight is one of those side encounters that pays off well if you approach it the right way.

A lot of players lock onto Akthi first because she feels like the bigger threat. She's fast, she sticks to you, and her close-range pressure can make the whole arena feel cramped. But that's exactly why people lose control of the fight. Anundr has to be your first target. He's the one turning the floor into a mess with quicksand and poison, and if you let that keep building, the room slowly becomes unplayable. You'll spend more time trying not to step in something awful than actually dealing damage. Burn the worm down early, even if Akthi keeps diving at you from the side. It feels wrong at first, but once Anundr drops, the fight settles down in a big way.

This isn't one of those fights where random panic movement somehow works out. You want to circle wide and keep both bosses on screen as much as possible. That alone makes the encounter easier to read. When Akthi disappears or starts shifting underground, don't guess. Watch the ground for dust and react straight away. A clean dodge-roll there saves you from taking a chunky hit for no reason. It also helps to check your poison resistance before going in. If it's low, you'll notice it immediately. Those poison pools don't look dramatic, but the damage adds up fast, and suddenly your flasks are gone before the fight even reaches the halfway point.

After Anundr is dead, Akthi becomes much less scary. She's still dangerous, no question, but now you've got room to play around her attacks. Her tail swipe has decent reach, and the venom spray can catch you if you drift too far in front of her, so don't overcommit. Hit once or twice, back off, reset, then go again. That rhythm works better than trying to force damage. You'll probably notice her patterns are more readable than they seemed at the start. Without quicksand and poison covering half the arena, the whole thing feels more like a proper boss fight and less like a survival drill.

There's a reason experienced players usually stop here instead of skipping ahead. The reward is permanent, and permanent power always wins out over a few minutes saved. If your build feels a bit shaky, this is exactly the kind of encounter that teaches better movement and target priority. It's not really about insane damage; it's about staying calm and making the arena manageable before it gets out of hand. And if you're the sort of player who likes sorting out upgrades, trading for what you need, or finding a quick marketplace for gear and currency, U4GM is one of those names people often mention while getting ready for tougher content in PoE 2.
