That mechanic changes how you think about your passive tree. Instead of spending every available point on conventional Life or damage improvements, you may want additional Mana and Intelligence. That effect is especially useful for Ranger and Mercenary setups that use Gas Grenades or Gas Arrows. These skills can benefit from enemies being Ignited, and automatic ignition can remove the need for an additional manual step.
This kind of Unique can make a build feel smoother even when the numerical damage increase is not enormous. During the campaign, reducing the number of actions required to set up your main attack can make regular encounters much more comfortable.
It is worth considering the difference between raw power and practical power. An item that allows your main skill to function more naturally can sometimes have a larger impact on actual gameplay than an item that provides slightly better offensive statistics.
Everlasting Gaze and Midnight BraidAnother combination worth considering is Everlasting Gaze with Midnight Braid. These items become particularly interesting when paired with defensive mechanics involving Mana.
Midnight Braid allows a substantial portion of incoming damage to interact with Mana, while Everlasting Gaze helps maintain that resource. When these mechanics are combined with options such as Mind Over Matter and Chaos Inoculation, Mana can become a central part of the character's defensive structure.
The important lesson is that these combinations require planning. You should not equip several defensive Uniques simply because each one looks strong on its own. Their real strength comes from the interaction between their mechanics.
Class-Specific Campaign Power SpikesSome Uniques are much more specialized. Pillar of the Caged God is a strong example for Quarterstaff Monk builds because its scaling rewards characters that invest into attributes.
That makes it different from an ordinary leveling weapon. Instead of replacing it every few levels, a player can continue developing the character around its attribute scaling. With the right passive choices and equipment, it can remain relevant as the character approaches early maps.

For a build that relies on repeated attacks, faster execution can improve both damage output and overall combat feel.
Enfolding Dawn is another standout, particularly for Summoner Witch players. Its large Spirit bonus is extremely valuable early because Spirit determines how much room a character has for persistent minion-related abilities. A substantial Spirit increase can therefore allow a summoner to maintain a larger army during the campaign.
Astramentis and Attribute RequirementsAstramentis is especially attractive to characters that rely heavily on attributes. Its large bonus to Strength, Dexterity, and Intelligence can solve several problems simultaneously.
This matters during leveling because characters often struggle to meet the requirements for different skills and equipment pieces. An amulet with a huge all-attribute bonus can provide much more flexibility and reduce the need to spend passive points simply to reach basic requirements.
It is also useful for experimentation. If you want to test another skill or change equipment, having plenty of attributes available makes those adjustments easier.
Choosing the Right Early UniqueNot every powerful Unique deserves to become the foundation of your campaign character. The best approach is to consider what the item asks from you before changing your entire build.
Look at the resources it depends on, the passive points required to support it, and whether its mechanic actually improves the skills you enjoy using. A Unique that fits naturally into your existing setup can be far more valuable than one that forces you to rebuild everything.
